Endgame: Totalitarianism

I've noted that THE main difference between the United States and other countries is that in the US the government is [supposed to be] subject to the people rather than the people being subjects OF the government. What this means in base terms is that the people have rights, inalienable rights, derived from the fact that they are people (sometimes referred to as God given). Government does not give these rights and thus the government has no authority to take them. Exceptions to this being conviction for crimes defined by the legislature composed of duly elected representatives of the people.

In other forms of government such as monarchies, dictatorships and the like, the government grants rights, actually privileges to the citizenry. Those privileges can be revoked at any time, for any reason or no reason at all and is not subject to review or input from the people.

The citizens of the US used to understand and appreciate this. Now those who do are shrinking in number to the extent that the below exchange is becoming the norm.

CNN provided a platform for NYU medical ‘ethics’ professor Arthur Caplan Sunday, who argued that Americans skeptical of taking the COVID vaccine will soon come around and accept it if their freedoms otherwise remain restricted.

That this came from CNN is not the least bit surprising.

If you promise people more mobility, more ability to get a job, more ability to get travel, that’s a very powerful incentive to actually achieve fuller vaccination,” Caplan told Fareed Zakaria.

This is called blackmail.  It is extortion. Plain and simple. There is nothing "ethical" about it.

Caplan argued that Americans will “gain freedom” if a COVID certification system is enacted.

Caplan continued “Vaccine passports do require access; it’s hard to impose anything unless you are pretty sure that somebody can get a vaccine. So I think it’ll be a little while before we see this, let’s say within the U.S.”

I already discussed the rollout of these vaccination passports in NYC. Sure it was at an inconsequential basketball and hockey game. But those of us who understand how these things work know that it will be expanded short of a revolt by the population.

And note his use of the word "impose".  That tells you everything you need to know about this guy's position on government.

"“But there are going to be communities and areas of the country where it starts to make sense due to high availability of the vaccine to say, ‘you wanna come back to work in person? Gotta show me a vaccine certificate. You wanna go in a bar, a restaurant? Gotta show me a vaccine certificate,’” he added."

You know, early on in the pandemic there were incidents of people getting shot or other kinds of physical violence over mask mandates. You think there won't be one when some fast food joint tries to pull this?

Caplan predicted that “the world won’t wait for vaccine passports” until all countries are ready, and that they will be put into place regardless of whether poorer or less equipped countries can be a part of the system.

If you think that the delay is about "poor" or "less equipped" countries then I have a few bridges to sell you. The frog is being boiled slowly. You are the frog.  They are just looking at what standards to conform to and how to get it out. China already has it up and running for its social credit system.

You'll note that Caplan discusses what private businesses will or should do. This is unsurprising because a lot of stuff is being offloaded for businesses. The Govt. [currently] cannot censor but they outsource that to FaceBook, Twitter, etc. When those aren't enough, payment processors and hosting companies step in and provide the financial squeeze. All legal of course. Where companies don't toe the line, the state licensing agencies are activated and the business is threatened with the loss of whatever license they need to operate.

Already apps are being pushed by Apple to user's phones to download "official quarantine and notification" applications onto your devices. I don't know about Android devices. And you better believe that when you do not give permission or otherwise decline to download or register that they are noting it for future use.

And remember. This is for a disease which:

1) Has a 99+% survival rate with the vast majority of cases being asymptomatic and full recoveries.

2) Mostly affects people with pre-existing conditions, particularly vitamin D deficiency and obesity. The latter influencing the former.

3) That has known therapeutic remedies that negate any need for a "vaccine" of any kind.

This is not about public health.
