Slave States and Free States
I saw this map of where Sanders has been winning and where Clinton has been winning:
I thought that the map looked familiar. Indeed it did:
Very interesting indeed. We should also note that the places where Clinton has done extremely well has in recent history gone Republican for presidential races, though with Trump likely to be the nominee and the reaction from mainstream Republicans to that possibility, anything is possible.
What these maps also point out is that generally speaking there is a huge racial divide among Democrats. Sanders does extremely well in very white states. It's interesting that Trump is being picked on for "appealing" to white voters (of a particular stripe), whereas Sanders can generally skate by the fact that he has an overwhelmingly white (as white if not whiter than Trump's) support base.
